Retrofit & Refurbishment · London
Kilburn, London
High-standard refurbishment of a basement flat, improving the EPC rating from D to B.
Project overview
36A Birchington Road is a 75sqm basement flat located just off Kilburn High Road in North London. We were originally engaged by the leaseholder to provide strategic advice associated with a Licence for Alterations. The client wanted to make structural alterations, enlarge the kitchen, and extensively refurbish the property to a high standard. Through further briefing, it was determined that the flat suffered from poor comfort levels during winter, damp and draught issues, and a general lack of heating. Once landlord consent had been secured, we procured the works on behalf of the client, having defined the scope and specified a thin, breathable, high performance internal wall insulation throughout. Combined with new windows, the insulation improved the EPC Rating from D to B. The project was successfully completed on time and within budget in Autumn 2024.
