Spencefield Grange

An Energy and Sustainability Statement for a new residential development, prepared to support the planning application.

Project overview

We are proud to have produced the Energy and Sustainability Statement for this residential development on Davenport Road, Leicester, prepared in support of the planning application. The scheme comprises a new apartment building delivering high-quality residential accommodation with associated parking, cycle storage and landscaping. Our statement was prepared to satisfy local plan policy and the requirements of the NPPF, demonstrating how energy efficiency, carbon reduction and climate resilience have been embedded in the design. It sets out a fabric-first approach with enhanced thermal performance exceeding Approved Document Part L 2021, roof space allocated for solar photovoltaics, and water-efficient fittings limiting consumption to 110 litres per person per day. We also assessed passive solar design and ventilation measures to mitigate overheating risk, and advised on future-proofing the heating strategy to enable connection to heat pumps or district heating, supporting a development designed for long-term resilience, low running costs and full compliance with current Building Regulations.
