Large Supermarket

A full energy audit and costed net zero analysis for a large supermarket, delivered around live retail operations.

Project overview

Develeco delivered a full energy audit and costed net zero analysis for a large supermarket, working alongside a trusted engineering partner and coordinating all survey activity around live retail operations to ensure the business was never disrupted. The building presented complex geometry and limited existing documentation, so our team took a proactive approach, using laser scanning to capture accurate measurements on site and producing floor plans from scratch. From that foundation we constructed a calibrated dynamic energy model and established the current EPC position, while a CRREM stranding analysis confirmed the asset's position against future decarbonisation benchmarks. In parallel, our engineering partner completed a full MEP conditions survey, informing a phased modernisation strategy aligned with the client's operational and capital planning. Eleven energy conservation measures were assessed in detail, spanning refrigeration heat recovery, LED lighting upgrades, rooftop solar PV, air source heat pumps, voltage optimisation and building fabric improvements. Every measure was market tested for pricing accuracy and structured across multiple options at varying cost points and timeframes, giving the client a clear, flexible route to net zero.
